High Performance Polyurethanes Print E-mail

In February 2010, Innovative Polymers Inc. introduced the HP-1000A series, formulated for producing durable parts with extremely high elongation (356 – 800%) and tear strengths (130 – 325 pli). The Shore A hardness elastomers exhibit outstanding resistance to gouging, cutting and abrasion as well as chemical and solvent exposure. The polyester polyol-based materials are ideal for casting amusement/ theme park ride components, oil/gas and mining equipment, and parts for the paper, printing and welding industries.

The High Performance Shore A polyurethanes are pourable at room temperature for easy processing via hand-batch or meter-mixing. The HP-1000A series polyurethanes are readily processed at temperatures between 77ºF and 130ºF and cure at temperatures below 150ºF. To attain maximum physical performance properties, the polyurethanes should be post-cured for 12 hours at 150ºF. Like all Innovative Polymers products, the new polyurethanes contain neither mercury nor MOCA.

Innovative Polymers' TP-4000 series continues to provide our users next-generation Shore D materials formulated with advanced crosslinked technologies to produce a unique combination of excellent impact strength with high heat resistance and good flexural characteristics. The products exhibit a range of viscosities to accommodate cartridge and machine dispensing as well as hand- and vacuum-casting. Typical applications for the TP-4000 series polyurethanes are:

Advanced crosslinked polyurethanes are easy to handle with gel times from seven to 15 minutes at room temperature and cure times of less than seven hours at 77ºF (25ºC). Cured parts built from the materials are strong with flexural modulus properties up to 325,000 psi, notched Izod impact strengths of up to 6.5 ft-lb/in and heat deflection temperatures of up to 346ºF (174ºC).
