The very fast-gelling polyurethanes in the Innovative Polymers Rapid Cast, Fast Cure product family are used for automated meter/mix dispensing into silicone rubber molds. Several of the systems are also suitable for cartridge dispensing. The Rapid Cast materials are typically used for producing ABS-like prototype parts. Among the special characteristics featured by various products in the Innovative Polymers fast casting line are:
- UL 94 V-O flame retardant PURs (two systems have with yellow cards)
- A buffable, water clear lensmaking product
- A FDA-compliant (CFR 21.177.1680) product for dry food contact.
- A room-temperature cure, high-heat material for underhood automotive prototypes
Rapid Cast, Fast Cure polyurethanes can be demolded after five to 30 minutes at room temperature. The cured materials feature excellent flexural modulus (180,000 psi to 450,000) and good elevated temperatures performance at temperatures up to 320ºF (160ºC) depending on system selected.
